PROJECT REFERAL
tele.ring is the only full service provider with it's own fiber glass fixed network and a modern mobile network that covers 98% of the Austrian population. In Q1 2000 tele.ring was desirous of providing value-added services for its mobile phone subscribers in Austria. These services were to be accessible over WAP enabled mobile phones, Alcatel Screen Phones and over the Web. AmSoft partnered with Alcatel to imnplement this solution for tele.ring.
Interactive services such as eBanking, Weather, News and Traffic information were targeted at users with general interest. Specialized services such as Business News and Credit Rating of Companies were developed for the business community. These services were developed using Alcatel's Home Top Solution (HTS) platform which contained the business logic and interfaces to the WAP gateway. AmSoft developed the Content Applications Framework (CAF) that sits on top of HTS. Individual services had been developed and deployed using CAF. Content to the Mobile phone, Screen Phone and the Web was delivered through JSP templates created for each service. The CAF allowed dynamic retrieval of content from multiple sources (local or remote), customization of decks and cards transmitted to the user corresponding to specific profile settings and common login for all services.
Solution Objective -
Universal services: Services operating on the same data were to be rendered and delivered at runtime on different channels and devices.
- Flexibility: Support for multiple content formats.
- Scalability: Additional content formats could be added configuring the CAF that alleviated the need to write new code
- Security: Session management using persistent beans.
