Telekom Austria group chose AmSoft Systems to design, implement and manage Jet2Web, a complete horizontal convergent portal, that was core to its Branding strategy. The portal supports Telekom (classic telephony), Mobilkom (mobile telephony), Datakom (data services) and Internet services (access, portal etc.). The solution portal offered characteristics such as frequent addition of channels, layout changes etc. User preferences led to selection of featured services in the portal. Content publishing assumed higher significance due to promotion and service co-ordination requirements across convergent Telekom, Mobilkom, Datakom and Internet services.

AmSoft delivered a CMS (Content Management System) based on Vignette V/5, to be used by channel managers and content providers for creation and editing of content for the Jet2Web portal. The solution standardized the content feed and automated the entire process. It enabled the channel managers to change the layout of the page, select components for the layout and apply rules to these components, allowing them to frequently modify the look and design of their channels apart from the content updates.

The solution objectives were :

• Delivering an efficient content management system that was capable of handling diverse content acquisition domains.
• Implementing a highly available, efficient and convergent portal to serve a heavy load (Approx. 3000 hits/ minute).
• Designing a Portal Building System that provides free hand to the channel managers to design and build their own pages.

Efficiency of the portal and ease the content creation and modification process was core to the solution. Proper design methodologies, modular approach and efficient programming helped AmSoft to achieve the ambitious deadline of providing the design in 4 months and the complete solution in 4 months.
