PROJECT REFERAL

AmSoft Systems designed and implemented PowerCenter porting solution for Informatica Corporation. The objective of the solution was to port Informatica PowerCenter Server running on 32-bit operating systems, to 64-bit Tru64 operating system.

Porting a complex 32-bit application to 64-bit Tru64 platform involves numerous issues such as data types functional discrepancies, macros behavior, etc. AmSoft conducted a feasibility study to understand and abstract the diverging behaviors between both the platforms; drafted a comprehensive porting strategy framework; devised an implementation plan to port and certify PowerCenter for Tru64.

The solution objectives were:

  • Conducting a feasibility study to identify porting issues between a 32-bit operating system and a 64-bit operating system
  • Outlining the porting guidelines for PowerCenter Server
  • Identifying problematic areas in the 32-bit server code based on the deduced porting issues
  • Implementing the porting strategy plan on Tru64 operating system
  • Certifying PowerCenter for Tru64 platform

AmSoft completed the entire porting process in six months. Following a rigorously tested and industry accepted methodology, AmSoft's team of solution architect, senior developers and QA engineers implemented the porting framework to port and certify Informatica's data integration platform - PowerCenter to Tru64 platform.
