PROJECT REFERAL
AmSoft Systems provided a comprehensive technology solution to create a Global Information Repository for ABB in Switzerland. As a global conglomerate of over 1200 companies with diverse ERP systems, processes and data sources, ABB management was constantly challenged in making information available and actionable from the various group companies with geographically dispersed offices and with each business unit operating autonomously to generate its own revenue, having its own employee base, and specializing in multiple domains and industries. Faced with problems of aggregating, normalizing, generating meta data and actionable information from fragmented data views from complex and varied enterprise sources, ABB entrusted AmSoft Systems to provide a comprehensive technology solution to its growing problems and selected Accenture to work on the technology strategy.
The solution objectives were: - Unified World View of Information
- Individual company views semantically mapped onto the Worldview
- ECTL process to build data warehouse
- Data Unification and Not Aggregation
- XML based normalization, meta data generation and publishing
AmSoft collaborated with ABB Global Processes at ABB's Zurich offices, to create a Global Information Repository (GIR) comprising of a Global Data Warehouse (GDW) where structured data like balance sheets, employee information, product catalogs etc. reside, and a Global Content Repository (GCR) where unstructured data like product sheets, MARCOM, specifications, design specs etc. reside in a document management system.
The pre-requisites required to deliver the goods were: thorough understanding of the business intelligence domain, rich portfolio of enterprise solutions, committed and skilled technology and engineering task force and an impeccable delivery record.
Following a rigorously tested and industry accepted methodology, AmSoft's team of solution architects started out by analyzing the systems in place and worked closely with business managers from ABB and consultants from Accenture to deliver the solution in a record time of seven months.
